Sodbusters Cruise to Semi-finals with Sweep Friday, May 10th, 1946 The Union Township Sodbusters outclassed the Detroit Wolverines in all facets of the game throughout the FBN Quaterfinals. The end result was a Union Township series sweep to advance to the Semi-finals, capped off by a 10-1 win in the final game. "We're a bit surprised it's over in a sweep, to be honest with you," said second baseman Frank Parkinson, who hit .500 in the series. Parkinson's standout effort garnered him MVP honors. He also put up a .571 on-base percentage and had 1 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 2 runs. The Union Township Sodbusters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Montreal Expos - Minnesota Twins series. Minnesota leads the series 1 games to 0. The Semi-finals is scheduled to begin on May 12th, 1946.
